Product color checks are processed in the browser before an optional short text explanation. The optional AI color scan sends a resized selfie to the configured AI provider only after explicit consent. This MVP does not intentionally persist the selfie.
Photo (biometric) analysis & your consent
The optional photo scan is off by default and only runs after you read the notice below and give explicit consent, as required by biometric-privacy laws such as the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act (BIPA) and similar Texas and Washington laws.
- What is collected & why: a resized copy of your photo, used once to read skin color (and, if enabled, a look-based read of oil/dryness) to recommend matching products.
- No faceprint: we do not create or store a facial-geometry template, do not identify you, and do not perform facial recognition or identity matching.
- No sensitive-trait inference: no race, ethnicity, health, age, or attractiveness analysis. Results are cosmetic style estimates and can be wrong due to lighting, makeup, white balance, hair dye, or filters.
- Retention & deletion: Palevie does not intentionally store your photo. If an external analysis provider is used, its systems may hold the original image up to 1 hour and the result image up to 24 hours to compute the result, then delete them. Palevie keeps only the non-identifying color scores tied to your profile.
- No sale or training: your image is never sold, shared for advertising, or used to train AI models.
- Your rights: you may decline (the free quiz never uses a photo) and may request deletion of stored results at any time via [your support email].
Skincare
The skincare profile records shopping preferences such as texture, fragrance preference, and cosmetic goals. It is not a skin-disease diagnosis or treatment recommendation.
